Archive for April 2009Phonak Hearing Aids - Spring Launch 2009 - Phonak Exelia Art - Phonak Naida IX - Phonak Click-n-Talk30/04/2009 by admin.
Having attended the second product launch in a week there’s lots to tell. This time it’s Phonak, who have announced an upgraded version of the highly thought of Phonak Exelia. The Phonak Exelia has been replaced with immediate effect with the Phonak Exelia Art. The price is the same, no increase, but the Phonak Exelia Art features SoundRecover (a feature to help with higher frequency speech clarity), DuoPhone (to help with talking on the telephone) and ZoomControl with DirectTouch (for you to manually decide when to emphasis sounds from the front, back, or either side, trust me, in practice it works really well for certain situations). Phonak have also launched a new premium version of the successful Naida, the Phonak Naida IX. It has all the features you would normally find in a premium hearing aid and more, all in a super power behind the ear solution. In the past you tended not to see premium features in super power instruments, that’s all changed with the Phonak Naida IX. Phonak are already renowned for their innovation in connectivity accessories, they’ve upgraded their MyPilot remote control and have a new device ‘ClicknTalk’ to make connecting your mobile phones to your hearing aids simpler than ever before. As always, don’t hesitate to contact us if you need any information or advice on hearing aids or hearing loss. Well I’ve just been to the launch of a new entry level hearing aid from Oticon, the Oticon Hit Pro. Oticon are one of the main manufacturers we dispense at Digital Hearing Care, as a manufacturer they tend to be leaders in hearing aid research and development and the build quality of their hearing aids tends to be robust and reliable. The interesting thing about the launch of this new hearing aid is the feature set against the entry level price of other hearing aids in the same sector. There are a number of features that come as standard in the Oticon Hit Pro that are just not available elsewhere at this level of hearing aid. An extended bandwidth of 8kHz, adaptive directionality, an automatic adaption manager, and also wireless fitting and the excellent DFC feedback cancellation all come as standard in these new hearing aids. We have yet to supply the Oticon Hit Pro to any of our clients but certainly on paper it seems to be a good buy for the money. The Oticon Hit Pro is replacing the Tego Pro , the Oticon Hit replacing the Oticon Tego. The Oticon Tego and Tego Pro are both looking a bit long in the tooth now. (Although we note that one of the big national hearing aid suppliers is still advertising the Tego as state of the art as of the last few weeks in the national papers….) Watch this space for progress reports on how we get on with the Oticon Hit Pro…. Fiction - Wearing hearing aids is a sign of old age. Always saying ‘sorry’, ‘pardon’ and ‘excuse me’ are less than subtle signs that you may have a hearing problem. Other indicators are that you are turning the TV too loud, avoiding telephone conversations and going in to social gatherings. Today’s tiny sophisticated hearing aid technology is certainly less noticeable than pretending there isn’t a problem. Don’t let a hearing loss make you seem older than you really are.
